I disagree with the 'human nature' thing. But the golden rule is hard to argue with. On a side note; do you remember when Dr. Paul was booed in S.C. at the primary debate because he said we should follow the golden rule with our foreign policy? I couldn't believe it. It was literally the saddest political thing I've ever seen.

The only problem with the human nature as how to define what is good/bad is that our nature often tells us to do things that we would consider wrong. From my perspective our human nature urges us to do things like steal, murder, and rape. We have to suppress that part of our nature in order to follow the golden rule. Back to my kids again, it's in their nature to do all sorts of things. My kids on their own have stolen, lied, hit others, ect. That is what they do naturally. Me, as a parent, try to teach them the golden rule and to not follow their 'human nature'.
