The poster below is right. You can't really convince them. You can only show what you know, provide resources and be a credible reference.
The hurdle for most people is to believe the level of evil and deceit required and that it can exist in their own government, with their own representatives that could allow this type of take over to happen.
They first have to understand it is within the realm of possibility. Most people want to believe the best of everyone. We know, and history has shown us, time and again this is naive.
Older folks still want to believe that Cronkite and Murrow are running the news and young folks are increasingly indoctrinated in the public schools to accept the idea of government as a solution and its inherent goodness. We know better... We must just give them real facts. Quote the founders teach the Constitution in our local schools. Educate our local policemen as to their oaths, etc...
