So many forget that this "volunteer army"

is what once was called "mercenaries." These men and women are earning a paycheck. Many of them joined for the paycheck. If they put hand up and swore an oath, it was to get the paycheck.
Many of them were "inspired" to join the military when a judge gave them an option: Jail or military. Every time I am admonished to "Thank a Vet" I want to remind them that a portion of those Vets are not Vets for being honorable men, but for being criminals.
Now, I don't want to go back to Viet Nam style BS of blaming the men who DID go in with honorable intent, or who were drafted in in the case of Viet Nam. But we have to stop blindly supporting "the troops" and start demanding that these folks who are working for a paycheck, start acting like they know they are on OUR payroll.
