"significant others". I've also met many Democrat + Repub. or Liberal + Conservative couples, who debate vigorously only to get more in love with each other.

Love and respect, tender concerns & interests in what others are experiencing. . . those are the ingredients that I cherish in my relationship with my hubby of 37 yrs. Under his head-strong libertarian streaks (like Dr. NO's consistent "unbending" NO votes ;-) he has learned to show his tenderness in his subtle ways over the years.
