I'm not clear on your point. Just because names and addresses of gun owners are public records doesn't mean it's morally neutral to aggregate and publish that information.
I'm also not clear on why you would bring up armed security guards. Is it common for houses in that area to have armed security guards?
How do you know that burglars only target unoccupied homes? I've read that the hot burglary rate in England rose dramatically after guns were banned. If true, that would indicate burglars are more likely to enter an occupied home if they believe it's a gun-free zone.
I agree that gun-control laws are a far greater threat in general, but wouldn't you be upset if a newspaper published a list of your valuable property?
