I understand what you are saying.

It is ridicules to make some poor working stiff pay for some rich jerks $100,000 automobile. So I agree that there should be a limit on liability and the one who makes the decision to drive an overprices status symbol on the road should be the one responsible for the overage. And we actually do make the decision on coverage for our OWN cars which is why you are only required to carry liability.

To say that I should carry YOUR liability in total is wrong and we haven't even discussed personal injury. For instance who should be responsible if you run over a pedestrian? Should I have to be self insured just to walk so I can take responsibility for someone elses fault of running me over? In such a case would my insurance go up if you run over me? To say that I should insure myself, while walking, so someone else doesn't have to take responsibility, while driving, is exactly what Obamacare is about.

That is why auto insurance is not the same as Obamacare.
