Where are you going in China?

I lived in Taiwan for 2 years.

Now there is an interesting political situation. And I had an observation while there: When in America you see some military planes fly over - F-14's say (which I saw several times in the skies over Taipei) - at least you know they're your country's planes. The same was not true about Taiwan. There was a lot of hot words back in the late 90's between those two.

I also remember talking to a Chinese guy (when I visited Shanghai) who kept talking about the "liberation," when Mao "liberated" them in 1949. I wanted to strangle him every time he said that.

To be mean is never excusable, but there is some merit in knowing that one is; the most irreparable of vices is to do evil out of stupidity. - C.B.
