He creates the demand by expanding the genre

and offering things that weren't offered before.

There was no demand for McDonald's hamburgers before they were made.

Now there is a great demand, and if one person eats a lot of hamburgers, their risk for heart disease might go up, which raises the insurance premiums for everyone in their insurance program. And if someone watches too many violent movies, their violent tendencies are being stoked, which sometimes results in them becoming killers.

Nothing happens in a vaccuum.
