Since we are both young activists, I think we can do some work together on this issue.
I am not a gun owner. I have little exposure to guns, I did not grow up around them. That being said, I have always been suspicious of the government so I never wanted to see everyday civilian's guns taken away.
Anyways... I have been trying to bridge the gap with my liberal friends. I saw a thread here a few days ago that promoted the idea of taking a friend shooting day.
I think this is a great way to help people who are not used to being around guns. I think this might be a good idea for gun owners here to try, so maybe share the idea with some people you know who own guns. If you know anyone who is not used to guns, maybe see if they want to go shooting. You might not turn anyone into a gun enthusiast, but it could help them feel more comfortable around guns.
On the flip side, I am working on spreading information to the liberals I know. I love the example of Switzerland being an armed society yet having low crime rates so I use that one a lot.
So let me ask you this, as a gun enthusiast; if you could tell someone who is not used to guns or lacks the exposure one factoid about guns what would you tell them (or what would you like me to tell them for you!? lol)?
