I would suggest that most of us perceive through bias filters. On any topic, we are either on one side of the fence or the other, or sitting on the fence. To win people over, there is no point preaching to the choir, and there is no point trying to convince the people on the other side of the fence (when the student is ready, the teacher will appear). It is the people on the fence (swing vote?) that is your target audience. As it relates to the content of what AJ was saying, were you already on 'his' side of the fence? Were you on the other side of the fence? Or were you sitting on the fence?
