I downvoted, but, this issue is a lot more complicated

than just having "open borders" or "closed borders."

I'm all for immigrants coming and sweeping my front porch and shining my stinky shoes for three bucks an hour. Hey, I'll never find an American to do that for those kind of wages, but, we've got that pesky thing called a minimum wage. Then, there's the Voting Rights Act which gives the federal government the power to punish areas of states and sometimes whole states that happened to have had less than 50% of its minority population registered to vote before 1965. It's come so far that you've got the Attorney General suggesting we get the UN to supervise American elections and objecting to states photo id-ing voters to make sure they're actually Americans.

The point is that there are a lot of other collateral things to consider when discussing immigration policies in the U.S.
