May question to you is? What do you think freedom entails?

The Israelites gave up freedom for a king like the others, Samuel warned them of things to come, but said this:

1 Samuel 12:14,15

14. If ye will fear the Lord, and serve him, and obey his voice, and not rebel against the commandment of the Lord, then shall both ye and also the king that reigneth over you continue following the Lord your God:
15. But if ye will not obey the voice of the Lord, but rebel against the commandment of the Lord, then shall the hand of the Lord be against you, as it was against your fathers.

Stay True to God and you will be blessed, don't and you will be cursed, he is basically saying. Just the same, our own founders warned us we must stay virtuous also:

“Statesmen, my dear Sir, may plan and speculate for Liberty, but it is Religion and Morality alone, which can establish the Principles upon which Freedom can securely stand. The only foundation of a free Constitution is pure Virtue, and if this cannot be inspired into our People in a greater Measure than they have it now, They may change their Rulers and the forms of Government, but they will not obtain a lasting Liberty. They will only exchange Tyrants and Tyrannies.”

~ John Adams

Morality is in the heart of all, you don't have to be a Christians to obey God's laws. Our nation can be blessed. We, as a nation, have fallen astray of the virtues of God and you can see our power being stripped from us.

I often listen to the quote from MLK that says:

"Don't let anyone make you think, that God chose America to be His divine messianic force to be, a sort of policeman of the whole world. God has a way of standing before the nations with judgement and it seems that i can see God saying to America 'You're to arrogant, if you don't change your ways, I will rise up, and break the backbone of your power, and I'll place it in the hands of a nation that doesn't even know my name. Be still and know that I'm God'

All of these quotes, apply to any and everything. We must hold true in our hearts until Christ returns. That is our mission, even if others stray from it, including our fellow Christians.
