Any of the 'good' laws we have

Don't need to be written down in order for us to comprehend them. We understand them from the time we are very young. We reject the idea that we need a central authority dictating the laws so that the rest of us know that it is wrong to steal, assault, murder or rape. Anarchists go a step further and say that you STILL can't do these thing even if you use euphemisms like 'taxation' or 'enforcing the law of the land'.

So any kind of self defense would be perfectly acceptable in a free society. Violence would most certainly be used to fight off some gang that was trying to carve out a fiefdom.
