I don't like making assumptions about others without anything to base it on. I wouldn't want others assuming things about me for no good reason, why should I do it to them ?

If I went around assuming that everyone was a statist/sheep/idiot/neolib/neocon/whatever, then I'd view people even *more* negatively...which isn't the best way to go when you're out trying to converse with folks about politics on a near daily basis. Maybe that's just my personality, though.

What I've found is that a lot (not most, but a lot) of people aren't "statists"...they just have a VERY hard time admitting they were wrong/fooled about something. That's just my experience though, others will vary greatly, naturally.
