Well that's certainly a level of challenge.

Every ecosystem, every soil grade has it's factor of humans/hectare as you imply. In deserts it can be INFINITE in other words it don't matter how much land you have if none of it will grow anything.

I think the assumption here is composting, building soil, tillage, vertical agriculture, hydroponics, humanure, permaculure, every-trick-in-the-book-culture. It's a really tall challenge BUT....
