Comment: Tower Effect

Tower Effect

Everyone, I imagine, has heard of Lake Effect Snow.
I came up with the monicker Tower Effect Snow here about 10 years ago.
I was 'enjoying' some just a few minutes ago, as I was outside for a smoke.

The Cooling Towers do not have irradiated water flowing through them... therefore the plume has no chance of being radiologically contaminated.
That is the case for PWRs (Pressurized Water Reactors) as well as BWRs (Boiling Water Reactors) - the two types of commercial Nukes.

What I thought about, while outside for my cigarette, was the potential for Legionella or some other micro-organism that would find the environment of a cooling tower appealing.
And one would find them in cooling towers of all types, nuclear, coal, natgas, etc...
