First, I am against the draft...

First, I am against the draft, I still have my draft card from Viet Nam. But if there is going to be a draft and we all have equal rights, then we all have equal responsibilities to our country. Drafting women should clearly be a part of equal rights and responsibilities for everyone. I do not have a problem with women in combat as long as they meet the training standards and requirements of male solders. If they do no qualify , they do not qualify, it is that simple. Lowering standards for inclusion is an unproductive weakness in civilian life but it is life threatening for combat soldiers. One positive unintended consequence of drafting women is that our government might be less likely to go to war. If their daughter and granddaughters were being sent into war to die then they might have second thoughts and find a diplomatic or a trade solution with other countries.
