If I beleived in Jesus, I'd think he was the greatest person who ever lived, but just as you've said, Jesus and God, according to the bible, are so different it is like hard to believe they would be the same being. Jesus is the most forgiving person imaginable, and God is the most ruthless. The difference, in my mind, is easily attributed to the fact that the stories are fictional, written in different times, and for different reasons. If Christians just followed Jesus, I really would have no beef with the concept, except that I just don't believe it. However, because they believe in the God of the old Testement, I continue to wonder how they still think liberty is even congruent with Christianity. Nothing about God's rule over us is libertarian.
Free market capitalism isn't right for America because it works better. It's right because it's free (and it works better).
