I thought about this long and hard many years ago.

I finally realized that truth is what matters. It doesn't matter if God is the God I think he should be. It matters what is. Even if God were a brutal authoritarian (which He is NOT) it doesn't matter, I want truth. Yes God put us here and gave us the rules to live by knowing we would be selfish and go our own way. But then he took responsibility for everything we did wrong. He took the punishment so that His justice could be satisfied. You may say, "well, I think that was stupid." But what matters is whether or not it's true.

When someone says to me, "well, if God is like _____, then I don't want to serve him", they are proving that truth is not important to them.
