Comment: Construction is a great training ground
Construction is a great training ground
I second your recomendation. Its one of the few places left that is still mostly a meritocracy. And most of the skills you pick are transportable into any field. Budget, time, people, design specs, etc. Learn how to succeed at contsruction and pretty much everything else seems easy by comparison.
The cool thing is in construction you can still have an after work parking lot fist fight and not get fired. A few punches, parental lineage defamed, then everyone makes up and goes for a brew. Unless its with the boss of course. If thats the case you likely have another job lined up anyway.
My dream is to introduce parking lot fist fights to Fortune 500 management style. Witnessed two so far but for some reason its not catching on like I hoped.
