It's not a good idea to chew gum while fasting. Chewing gum tricks your body into thinking that food is on the way to the stomach. The stomach starts preparing itself by producing acidic digestive fluids. This is bad in general because no food ever actually comes to the stomach. It's doubly worse when you are fasting because not only does no food come, but your stomach is actually empty with no food reserves, so now you literally have a stomach full of digestive fluids with absolutely nothing to digest. This could result in the stipping of some layers of stomach lining, among other things.
