Not teaching religion is consistent

with separation of church and state. What would be inconsistent is teaching one but not the other, or not teaching evolution because it disagrees with what fundamentalists of only one or two religions believe. I don't disagree with you. By creationism I meant fundamentalist christianity.

The ACLU certainly doesn't, for example, endorse the teaching of Islam and not Christianity or something like that.
