I'm from Argentina.

We have 26% inflation (http://www.inflacionverdadera.com/) and the government claims it's just "10%".

You should be careful about abolishing the Federal Reserve. Here in Argentina, the Central Bank is controlled by the government and we are in worse shape.
The FED sucks, but if you replace it with congress, everything would get worse.

The only real solution is gold standard and a balanced budget.
