They're pretty much unbridled now

Through govt. decree, fertilizer companies can make money selling their toxic waste (fluoride) to be dumped into the public water supply -- poison us, rather than lose money on safely storing the pollutants. Bankers are allowed to make money on derivatives, destroying the economy and then getting bailed out. Monsanto is allowed to tamper with the biosphere and our food with impunity. Military industrial complex enjoys tax funded R & D, and is further propped up by govt. engaging in unnecessary war.

Take away the "state" factor, and most, if not all, these problems would go away. The consumer can't control much when govt. is spending most of the money and making choices "for us."
