they've already got it. It's called "sovereign immunity," and it means taxpayers get to pay for the politicians' mistakes and misdeeds.
It's like when someone sues a city or a police department for some government abuse and wins: taxpayers get to pay the judgment, not the uniformed thugs who created the problem.
