My grandparents were farmers

and their main staple was wild game, but they also ate lots of roots, nuts, berries, and other natural foods.
And no diabetes in that generation.

I think the heavy use of grains in modern society, all the bread stuff, is the main cause of ill health, and the meat and dairy full of hormones and antibiotics.

I have not looked into it fully but wonder if the Inuit did not get most of their energy from the fat of animals. It is worth looking into; and fat has lots of vitamins stored in it.
