My son's eighth grade class just completed a semester civics course, which covered the Constitution, Bill of Rights, Articles of Confederation. The final paper required the application of those documents to a current controversial issue. All students in our district are required to take the course. The second semester is state history and deals with our state's founding documents and history.
My son loved the class and quickly became known as both the most informed and the only Ron Paul kid in the class. (He convinced a couple others before the election.) When I met the teacher, he said he'd been eager to meet the parents of this kid who had made the class discussions so engaging both for him and for the other kids.
