whether i walk the fence or not

is beside the point. women aren't being jailed for this, because many people don't view it as murder. if you want women put in prison, then i guess you have some minds to change.

also, jailing women is working on the assumption that anybody is aware of the crime at all. if it's known that it's a crime what do you think would happen? would women be honest about it, or would abortion go back into the shadows? it simply must be recognized that no amount of legislation is going to stop this from happening.

i'd rather not see women jailed for this. i think the morning after pill being available over the counter is the best solution right now. the abortion could be avoided all together. there is no way to know if the egg has been fertilized or not, with the morning after pill. i'm not saying this would end all abortion, but it could greatly reduce the number, and isn't that the goal? so far, i haven't see anybody suggest this highly viable option. it's been prison, or fines (which is better than prison, imo).
