This is productive to me..

How am I picking a fight if I can't read their "content" anymore?

The blocking feature was created for a reason:

http://www.dailypaul.com/faq#block_feature

"I can't stand person X. How do I block his content from appearing on my sidebar & in the comments?
(This being the opposite feature of friend content) Add them to your block list. Click the "block user" link on the offending user's profile page. They will be added to your block list, and sidebar content & comments by them will be hidden."

I have been on this website for over 5 years and was not aware (at my own fault) of this feature and now I am very happy to use it.

I am all for diversity of opinions, I just want to reserve the right of blocking out who I don't want to read anymore. Is that so bad?
