To create a post that pretty much says:

"These people aren't worth listening to." is an attack.

Without naming names, then it is just an article about a concept. So there is a clear difference between making the post about an idea that you believe in versus a post about "these people".

It has been a long standing policy that posts that call out specific members get very little tolerance around here.

If you want to state you don't like a person or their opinion in a comment on one of their posts, then that has always gotten a higher tolerance and generally been ignored.

But to name specific users in an OP invites flame wars. It has more to do with keeping the posting board somewhat sane than any other reason, I would imagine. (Though I do not know the entire motivation behind the ways that the rules are enforced, and I am sure Jon or another mod could answer the question better).
