I am giving the best answer a total layman has to offer... please accept expert advise and correct me if it is offered...
I think there are different types of solar flares, and a Faraday Cage will protect against the more common types.

But I think there are true "kill shot" types of flares (gamma?) that the only way to prepare is Yoga - make sure you can kiss your a$$ goodbye...
