He is certainly doing something right

He is already seen as the De Facto leader of both the Teavangelical movement and the Liberty movement. By bringing these groups together he forms an unassailable position for the GOP primary. My evidence for this is christian radio. When Ron was running he couldn't get any love at all because he was painted as anti-israel. Rand has set himself up in that respect, and if you listen to christian radio now he is talked about as practically the second coming. Those folks are absolutely necessary to any sort of liberty canidate winning the nomination, just as they were critical to Reagan being nominated. We may not agree on everything, but we agree on most of the important things, there are a lot of the teavangelical types in the Republican party, and they vote in the primary (see santorum, huckabee et. al.) We need those folks. Rand needs those folks, and he is taking the correct steps to reel in those votes. The establishment in the republican party has always worked to keep the evangelicals and the liberty folks apart, they have to in order to nominate the McCain and Romney types they prefer. By building bridges and being a bit of a politician Rand is setting himself up for a victory, and is thus settign liberty up for our biggest vistory since the revolution.
