Correct observation. That is called
corporatism - a symbiotic relationship between big government and monopolies. Since our corporatism is a two-party system (rather than Mussolini one party fascism), big labor is added to the mix for election purposes.
The most important thing to understand, however, is that under corporatism ("mixed economy" or fascism), tyranny of the government always has the upper hand. Thus, affirmative-action recipients (75% of eligible voters: women + gays + some ethnic men) and unionized white men is the Upper hand.
With 55 million Mexicans coming (11m + 11m future wives + 33m future kids; I do not count another 25m close relatives who will join later via family unification), do not expect more freedom.
