Gotta say
that the history of once-prevailing ideas in science is like an immense rubble heap. Metorites were long regarded as mythical, the Earth was once thought flat, the Okapi and Giant Panda make-believe.
Remember, while skepticism is good, DISbelief actually IS belief -- belief in the non-existence or non-truth of something. As such it can be just as irrational as unfounded belief. A mixture of skepticism, open-mindedness, and inquisitiveness is optimum.
