getting a CC permit would not led to the possibility of confiscation, simply purchasing a firearm will. Upon purchase they are registered with the state, and most counties require you to register with them too.
Sure in a place like Tx or other gun friendly states, it is a bit overboard to require fingerprints and the like, but I don't see how it would lead to confiscation there. CCP do not specify how many or what type of firearms you have or that you even own one, it just permits you to carry one.
If gun grabbers came door to door to take Texan's guns (for example) and they went solely on CCP, they would have no clue as to how many the CCP holders owned, if any at all.
