I built one in So. Colorado. This winter we had a spell of -30 degree nights. I heat with only one wood stove...usually just in the evenings & only in the late fall/winter/early spring seasons. Earthships are WAY better insulated & have thermal mass unlike most conventional homes so yes, they work anywhere a normal house would.
