Slow learning sponges

They are slow learners.

Another useful image is they are like sponges - soaking with propaganda.

You need a hand to squeeze the latter out.

That hand is usually called "Tyranny" - when it's SHTF times.

Then, they change their mind... right before being slaughtered.
