Comment: An alternative way to look at this
An alternative way to look at this
Glenn Beck is an opportunist.
Glenn Beck's (and media attention whores like Beck) primary motivation is to stay 'relevant', get ratings and stay in the spotlight.
This is what motivates him to put himself out there in the media, keep cranking out books, and market himself as a 'national red team voice'
He might be totally untrustworthy. But - insofar as marketing himself and making moves to stay in the conversation and get attention - he is far from stupid.
So. An alternative way of viewing this:
Glenn Beck making the decision to change course and self-proclaim as 'libertarian' (quotes intended) is a sign that our viewpoints are winning.
Because Beck (and people like Beck) do not stand on principle and run the risk of associating themselves with the 'fringe', ie outcasts and losers.
People like Beck - like politicians - put a finger to the wind, watch the polls, and wait ...
And they only make a move when they think they need to switch to stay ahead of the curve - and feel they need to in order to avoid getting run over by the oncoming train.
