If you eliminate leveraged debt and fractional reserve lending
perhaps a small amount of credit could still work. However, if all this was eliminated and you were allowed to keep all your savings our society would quickly transition to one of little debt and great abundance. Any borrowing involves usury and potential for abuse with interest and fees.
And don't forget about the nearly quadrillion dollars in derivative gambling... all created by allowing the money supply and interest rates to be set without any consciousness for humanity and well being.
