Matthew 16:16 And Simon Peter answered and said , Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. 17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou , Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. 18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

The church is not build upon “Peter” which in Greek is translated a rock or a stone. The church is built on Peters confession: “Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.”

Jesus Christ is the chief cornerstone that the builders rejected:
• Matthew 21:42 KJV
Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected , the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord's doing , and it is marvellous in our eyes?

Jesus is quoting Psalm 118:22 The stone which the builders refused is become the head stone of the corner. 23 This is the LORD'S doing; it is marvellous in our eyes. The church is a called out assembly of Believers figuratively built upon Jesus Christ, not Peter the Apostle. Peter the Apostle spoke the words upon which the church is built “Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.”

The Jesus clearly says

• Matthew 23:9 KJV
And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven.

Jesus never told his church to go and kill in His name. We are to have and show Love towards all men:

• 1 Thessalonians 3:12 KJV
And the Lord make you to increase and abound in love one toward another, and toward all men, even as we do toward you:
