Comment: The Good, The Bad, and The Glory

(See in situ)

The Good, The Bad, and The Glory

“Bad can happen, each of us can be bad, that is the genuine fact, and so being good earns the good person all the credit (responsibility, accountability, in the face of measurable odds against being good) if not the glory.”

“…, and so being good earns the good person all the credit … if not the glory.”

“…the glory.”

Romans 3: 23For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

“Bad can happen, each of us can be bad, that is the genuine fact…”:

That is exactly right Joe, and that genuine fact that we can be bad causes to fall short of the glory that we earn by being good. No amount of good can make up for the good we lose when bad takes the place of good. That bad causes us to fall short of glory. And when a person can realize that that falling short is what separates them from God, then, and only then, is someone ready to receive God’s mercy.

• Titus 3:5 KJV
Not by works of righteousness which we have done , but according to his mercy he saved us,

We need God’s mercy because we fall short of God’s glory.

We cannot get to heaven on our own merit. We fall short. We can never undo bad that has been done. That time is gone and past. The only way to undo it is to be forgiven or in other words pardoned. We cannot be pardoned without Jesus Christ who is the Lamb of God. That is why Jesus gave his life for us. Because we are hopelessly short of God. So God, gave Himself for our shortness.

I am interested in Quigley’s Tragedy and Hope because his writings are like Machiavelli’s but document current events and the reasons for them…probably another book I will never read 

Before moving on to Private, which I am contemplating and also a little apprehensive, because how can I ever measure up to the definition of Public? I would like to ask a few questions. Regarding Public, that word can also refer to “the public” as in a group of people, or a group of people’s mindset; i.e. public mindset. Warren used public in that way often. So I am wondering how you feel about that. Were you only looking for the definition of public “things?”

Secondly, regarding public things, do you feel that private is somewhat opposite of public? Sometimes I’m inclined to think you might not like Private, because Public goes with Socialism and Private maybe not so much.
