While some of the other good books have already be suggested, I suppose it really depends on what kind of books your looking for. One could not go wrong reading any of the writing of John Locke, or Adams Smith's "An Inquiry into the Nature and Causes of the Wealth Of Nations" all volumes(I've seen upto 5) most versions only have 3 books(not sure if all of the information is available in those), The Writings of Thomas Jefferson, and also The Writings of Thomas Paine. If you want to help people learn problem solving skills, I would suggest George Poyla's book "How to Solve it." Like I said it all depends on what kind of information you are trying to collect or disseminate.
