Rand decided to play nice for the Hagel confirmation, because he knew this would be the big fight. I think he only filibustered the Hagel nomination due to neocon pressure- but it was actually quite courageous to be in the small group of GOP Senators who voted to confirm him. Hagels voice was mere moderation; only un-American from the pure neocon standpoint. Thats how we know Glenn Beck just doesnt get it, still. Actually, I think he gets it, hes just trying to stake out a market for neoconservative libertarians
