to save the U.S. the expense of keeping him on our side. He burned down an aircraft carrier, with the loss of hundreds of lives and had at least two fighters shot out from under himself. Must be nice to have a father who is an Admiral. It's a shame he didn't break his neck instead of his arms when he ejected, he couldn't even do that properly.
