...is problematic, indeed. However, I think focusing on this is missing the point. Rand's effort here is a great success in terms of raising the public's awareness of the issue, and getting more support for our point of view in the Capitol. I have no illusions that Rand's effort in itself significantly restrained the power of the federal government in its use of drones, but I am certain that Rand's effort set the stage and dramatically improved our odds of really limiting those powers in the future. This is how politics works. Most of the time, you're not doing anything important in itself, rather you're working on changing perceptions gradually over time so that you can eventually do something really important.
