Comment: We abandoned our cities

We abandoned our cities

Happened nationwide during the 50-80's. Gen-X started moving back into the core in the 90's and today the trend has been reversed... except in Detroit. There was nothing left to move back into economically.

The city needs a good turnaround specialist - it has to be re-shaped to the new realities and cannot hold onto the Mowtown past. Problem is "dead' cities are the perfect place for corruption to thrive.

Maybe a takeover will break the cycle. What is there to lose at this point? The city can turnaround. It takes a generation of "urban pioneers". Don't give up !
