The state (with the public's passive support of course) has completely eradicated the application of objective science to this field of study via the university. If professors so much as suggest, much less publish a paper, that this universe had an super-natural first Cause (not to mention one that Created in the way of Genesis 1) they immediately are outcast and silenced.

I highly recommend the movie the documentary "Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed" - it's by Ben Stein, who I can't STAND politically, but in this documentary he is a strong advocate of the separation of science and state and letting the free market of ideas have its way with scientific debates.
