I focus on specific issues I agree with, not necessarily the person speaking or accepting their entire ideology per say. This tendency of mine is opposite of what most people have been taught, to dismiss everything one says based on the particular person speaking. That is the main tool of the divide and conker strategy, to dismiss the most amount of people and their intelligent observations by focusing on who they are.
Chomsky articulates this particular issue quite well and relieves me of having to articulate this position all the time.
