Comment: When I was a kid,

(See in situ)

When I was a kid,

I remember on several occasions where the school teacher would offer the class a reward, perhaps no homework for the night if we'd "be quiet and settle down."

Well, needless to say this filled us with exuberance over such a tempting prospect. Thus, a kid or two would shush someone ruining it for all of us. In response they would be shushed by others and before long things would escalate into a huge shouting match for everyone to "shut up!"

I never participated. Honestly. I'd just sit there quietly with a stunned look on my face while thinking, "these people just don't get it!"

In many ways I believe we never learn and in particular when it comes to politics. The duopoly government (teacher) promises great things if only we (students) would settle down on one of two choices.

In kind each side continues to blame (shush) the other, becoming increasingly adamant and boisterous in their convictions, all the while as the ship sinks deeper and deeper.

Watching people suffer like this is absolutely gut-wrenching for me. I'm overwhelmed with feelings of frustration and helplessness. I just want to pick these people up and shake them silly. They've done this to themselves and will not stop before they destroy it for everyone simply because they just don't get it and I'm afraid never will.

If men are good, you don't need government; if men are evil or ambivalent, you don't dare have one.
