Do North Americans, Central Americans and South Americans now all want to be called Americans or Canadians, Mexicans, and Guatemalans? I suggest you don't try.

Am I now not allowed to call myself an American? What about African-Americans, Italian-Americans, German-Americans? Are they now supposed to call themselves Africans, Italians, and Germans?
